Kolamba
A journey of shared love
The proud owners of Kolamba restaurant in London’s Soho say their journey has been “fuelled by a passion for sharing the vibrant flavours and rich cultural heritage of Sri Lankan cuisine.”
Born and raised in Sri Lanka, their culinary roots run deep: “Our love for the traditional dishes of our homeland inspired us to embark on this remarkable venture,” say Eroshan and Aushi Meewella.
Kolamba’s story began with a vision to create a culinary haven that transports diners to the bustling streets of Colombo where every bite tells a story and every dish is a celebration of their heritage.
Drawing from the proprietors’ family recipes and childhood memories, Kolamba’s menu captures the essence of Sri Lankan gastronomy by infusing every dish with authenticity and love.
Opening its doors in the heart of Soho four years ago, the restaurant caters to London’s diverse culinary scene. And the owners say that from the outset, their mission was clear: “To redefine perceptions of Sri Lankan cuisine and introduce Londoners to the bold spices, vibrant colours and complex flavours that define our culinary traditions.”
Over the years, Kolamba has garnered accolades for its commitment to authenticity and excellence. From rave reviews in prestigious culinary publications to coveted awards – such as Best Restaurant Interior in 2021 at the GQ Food and Drink Awards – the restaurant has become a destination for food enthusiasts seeking a taste of the exotic.
But beyond the accolades lies a deeper journey of growth, perseverance and community. Kolamba welcomes guests from all walks of life, thereby forging connections and creating lasting memories.
“As we reflect on the past four years, we’re filled with gratitude for the support of our loyal patrons and the opportunity to share our culinary heritage with Londoners. Looking ahead, we remain committed to upholding the values of authenticity, quality and inclusivity that define the Kolamba experience,” the owners say.
And they add: “Our journey is fuelled by a shared love for Sri Lankan cuisine and a dedication to creating unforgettable dining experiences.”
