Local artistry and wildlife were on show at Cinnamon Life City of Dreams recently, when over 2,000 hand-crafted kites were brought to life in collaboration with traditional kite makers in an exhibition with a difference, dubbed ‘The Meeting in the Sky.’

The innovative exhibits were showcased over four days at The Forum, in a unique celebration of local art, culture and nature.

On show were kites of various shapes and forms, inspired by Colombo’s flora and fauna, which produced an awe-inspiring blend of art intertwined with nature to highlight the city’s biodiversity. Visitors – including families with children and art enthusiasts – learned firsthand about the age-old tradition of kite making and witnessed a stunning representation of the city’s wildlife, brought to life through art.

In line with assurances from the organisers – whose aim was to help preserve this unique tradition and initiate a dialogue about the beauty of artisanal heritage – the suspended kites created an idyllic backdrop and scores of photo ops. They served as a poignant reminder of the need to preserve the island’s cultural and environmental heritage.
